Padded Chair: 2023

18” × 16” × 36" | Reclaimed chairs, muslin, poly-batting, twine
Formed by merging two ladder-back chairs without the use of screws or nails, Chair investigates reconstruction through binding and restraint. The components are hand-sewn together with twine, producing an organic structure from rigid materials. Upholstered in muslin and poly-batting with subtle ruching and tufting, the piece reimagines the Shaker chair—an icon of utility—as an unsittable object suspended between familiarity and transformation.
