“X” 19 Times: 2026
32” × 72" | poplin fabric, cotton batting, embroidery floss
Constructed from horizontal bands of poplin and cotton batting, "X" 19 Times treats the quilt not as a finished domestic object but as a record of its own construction. Nineteen hand-embroidered red Xs mark the points where the quilted blocks failed to align, converting error into ornament and inspection into gesture. Left raw and fraying at the edges, the piece resists the tidy enclosure typically associated with quilting, holding the work in a state between repair and exposure, less a blanket than a diagram of its own misalignment.
